Abstract

This article reports a study of current perceptions among professionals regarding therapy & coaching. Whereas therapy & counseling have been traditional fields of study & practice, coaching is not as well developed. It is helpful to examine the perceptions of practicing professionals to delineate the distinctions & overlaps in these modalities. A set of seven questions was used to explore these viewpoints with a subject pool of professional coaches/therapists. Interview data & narrative summaries provide a perspective on the controversy of coaching versus therapy.
